So, when I was pregnant I really brought a lot of useless things with me to the hospital! The hospital actually giggled as I came in because it looked like I was moving in there.. I just wanted to be prepared (; So I am going to make a list of the important things you will need for yourself, and your baby!
For mom:
1.
A boppy pillow! These are lifesavers and really great for people who choose to breast feed. Even if you don't they are good to prop your arms up on when your holding baby. Also good for moms with c-sections!
2.
Hair ties, because I promise your going to need them if you have long hair! Your doing work, so your not going to won't your hot hair all over the back of your neck.
3.
Robe! These are really good to sit around in. Even if you just want to wear a good supportive nursing bra and wear your robe over it.
4.
Snacks! Even though the hospital will provide stuff for you after you deliver, it's always good to have some extra snacks just incase! The hospital I delivered Cooper in was extremely nice and brought me whatever I wanted! So I didn't really eat the snacks but maybe one time. Also mints/gum are good to have too. I brought mints with me. You won't need any drinks, because the hospital will provide those.
5.
Bed room slippers! Because you don't really want to be walking all over the hospital floors barefooted. And these are just really cute slippers (;
6.
Socks. I like warm fuzzy socks so I brought a pair of these kind with me.
7.
Chap stick! My lips really stay chapped, so this was like first thing in the bag!
8.
Hair brush!! I am so glad I brought this because the hospital provided me with just a little toothpick looking comb. My hair would break that, so hair brush is always a good thing to have!
9.
Sweatpants. You are going to want something nice and loose on you when you leave the hospital! I wore Hollister stretch pants, they were really a lifesaver throughout my pregnancy! And also same thing applies to your shirts. You are going to want something loose fitting and comfortable, especially if you have a c-section!
10.
Cell phone, to capture all the precious moments and to tell your family/friends your baby has arrived! (: So either a cell phone or camera. And don't forget the charger!
11.
Shampoo/soap! And trust me, you are going to want to bring your own. I didn't like the smell or the kind the hospital gave me, so I just went and got me a sample bottle of shampoo, and a sample bar of soap!
12.
Deodorant. Just like the shampoo and soap, I am glad I brought my own because I didn't like the kind they provided.
13.
Toothbrush/ toothpaste. Some people aren't as picky as I am with this stuff, they are fine using any type of shampoo, soap, deodorant, and toothbrush/toothpaste.
14.
Nursing bra, or a regular bra if you plan on not breastfeeding.
15.
And lastly germ x! The doctors really recommend you wash your hands everytime you hold baby, and of course before and after every diaper changing. So this is a good thing to have! And I like the spray ones(:
Some things I brought but didn't use were pads and underwear. The hospital will provide you with both of these! I didn't won't to ruin my underwear, so they will bring you a certain kind to use. So no need to bring that stuff!
Alright, so now for the baby list!
1.
Of course the Car seat!
2.
Burp cloth!
3.
Blankets! I brought 2 blankets for him. He was also a November baby so it was very cold out, I wanted to make sure he stayed extra warm! The hospital will of course give you a receiving blanket as well.
4.
Baby hats!
5.
Baby mittens. A lot of babies scratch their faces too! I recommend bringing atleast 2 pairs.
6.
Socks. If your baby is anything like mine though, these are almost useless! My son has VERY tiny feet, and these just kept slipping off. The best thing to do is just use your swaddling blanket and that will keep them warm.
7.
Sleepers! These are great to have, and like I stated above if your baby can't really wear socks this is your best bet! It already provides the feeties with it.
8.
Going home outfit. This is your own choice of what you want your baby to wear! Some parents decide to dress the baby in what they want everyday at the hospital, others use what the hospital has. Yes, I was one of those parents who decided to change my babies clothing! I brought a few outfits (Newborn and 0-3 month) Just because the doctors were sure I was going to have a big baby, so I wanted to be prepared! He ended up not wearing the 0-3 though and stayed in newborns for a long time!
Some things I brought with me for Cooper that I didn't use were diapers and wipes! The hospital provided this and they were great! I mean, free diapers and wipes! Although, I know some people have a personal preference on what they want their child to wear. And if you cloth diaper, well obviously your going to bring diapers and wipes. The doctors were very friendly and gave me anything I needed!
I hope this list helps out some of you to be mommies (:
